Exploring Gelli Plate Printmaking with Amsterdam Acrylics

In this hands-on workshop, we'll explore how layers of color, texture, and simple tools can transform every pull into something unexpected. Using stencils, found objects, and expressive mark making, you'll build rich, colorful prints while learning practical techniques for controlling paint, creating depth, and embracing the happy accidents that make printmaking so rewarding.

Whether you're completely new to Gelli printing or looking for fresh ideas to expand your
creative practice, you'll leave with samples of Amsterdam Acrylic, a collection of unique prints, and plenty of inspiration to continue experimenting at home.

About the Instructor
Jeff Olson is a Seattle-based artist, educator, and the Art Education Director for Royal Talens North America. A Spokane native, he has spent more than 30 years balancing life as a professional painter with a career devoted to helping artists better understand their materials.

Through workshops across the U.S. and Canada, Jeff combines art history, studio experience, and practical product knowledge to make art materials approachable, inspiring, and fun. His goal is simple: help artists spend less time worrying about materials and more time creating. Returning to Spokane to share ideas with the creative community that helped shape his own artistic journey is always a special experience.
