Mars Red Light is a dull red earth pigment that is brighter than India Red, and considerably more red in tone than Burnt Sienna Crimson.

Artist Notes:  Mars Red Light is an opaque red earth colour that is considered particularly valuable in landscape painting.  Combine with Titanium White for pretty blush hues that work in a variety of subject matter.

Paint Makers Notes:  Developed at the end of the 18th century in response to depleted natural pigment deposits, synthetic iron oxides were given the name ‘Mars’ after the Roman god of war and our planetary neighbour which has almost double the amount of iron oxide in its outer layers than our own.
