M Graham “Teacher’s Choice” Watercolor Palette (in pans)

The Teacher's Choice palette has been one of our most successful watercolor items over the past years. It was built by 3 of our watercolor instructors, each of whom needed something different. They set out to create a kit that was....

• Inexpensive for beginners. Many "artist-grade" watercolor sets, by the time you got enough colors, are expensive. We wanted to find an intense color that mixed well where new students and artist didn't have to give up quality for price.
• A complete Set. This set has everything, minus paper, that someone would need to start having success painting watercolors. Three of the most popular brushes, 14 colors and a palette that has a mixing area as well as travels!
• High Quality. M. Graham is a paint that is jammed with color and mixes very well. Many of our instructors say, especially with watercolors, why start off with poor colors (and poor paper) only to have poor results? You will have better early success with good materials.

We hand-squeeze tubed colors into this plastic palette. Because of our shaky hands and because different colors have different viscositys and textures, there is some variation in what each pool of color will look like. These complete palettes are squeezed and created here at Spokane Art Supply using M Graham watercolors. This is not a standard stocking item from M. Graham.

• As a side note, you are more than welcomed to create your own palettes using your tube colors.

Palette. We use the #411254 travel palette from the Jack Richeson people. (Closed palette size is 5"x10")  We like this version of a travel palette more than most simply because all the pans of on one side so when you close your palette, there is less mess. Many travel palettes have spaces for color on both sides, where the color when wet, migrates.

Why Honey?

As an essential ingredient in the  binding medium, honey contributes to moistness for smooth, easily controlled applications, increased pigment concentrations, and freedom from over reliance on preservatives. Because of the honey medium, M Graham watercolor resists hardening on the palette, or in the tube. It dilutes easily, often after months of disuse.

The Cerulean Blue color has a Prop65 warning.
Contains Cobalt compounds; maybe harmful
