India Yellow is an intense yellow-orange colour invaluable for a variety of applications including landscapes and florals, botanicals and illustration work.

Artist Notes: This is a clean and vibrant colour almost on the verge of orange. Combine India Yellow with Naphthol Red for vivid Scarlets, or combine with Burnt Sienna Crimson for earthy, desert hues.

Opacity: Semi-Opaque

Paint Makers Notes: The original form of this pigment was thought to have come from the caked urine of cows force fed mango leaves, though recent scholarship has shed doubt on this theory. These days, artists colours in the same warm yellow family are often christened India or Indian Yellow in honour of the historic pigment.
