    The Early Years

Spokane Art Supply is a true Mom & Pop art store. Ad and Alice Myers stared the business in 1954. The two debated at the time whether to open a fine art store (Ad) or a fabric store (Alice). Addison won the argument. He was a true Renaissance man. In his lifetime (even though he only finished one year of college), he was an accountant, artist, photographer, played chess, cooked and did algebra for fun. Alice was as interesting a person, especially considering she had to listen to how Ad talked constantly about being  an artist, photographer, etc...

    The Middle Years

Claudia Myers took over the business in the early 1980s. She  continued to grow and change the business. In only a few years the business changed from one with 90% commercial accounts to one with less than 10%. Computers came in a re-wrote the business completely. She was the first woman president of NAMTA (art materials industry association) in 1999. Claudia was also voted into NAMTA's Hall of Fame in 2008. Recently Claudia has been demoted to the "home office" where she pays bills and wanders in her gardens.

  • Present Day

These days Craig (Claudia's son) and Victor (her husband) steer the ship. Vic works 20-ish hours a week and "works in the office" a lot, and Craig does all the work...including filling out online content. On top of art supplies, Custom Framing has always been a big part of the mix (Alice needed a place to work separate from Ad) Recently we added  a full service printing department. Kurt (the guru) can print or stretch a vast number of things.

    Our Special Sauce

As this one simple snapshot will attest to, we continue to add products and make your shopping experience better every day! We want to grow the "old-school" categories of drawing, paper, brushes and paint, as we hunt for more children's art supplies, books and just plain fun items.
