Charcoal and Graphite Drawing
Description: Learn to draw expressively and accurately using charcoal and graphite.
Class runs 10am to 4pm. Please register by Monday, Jan. 3rd.
Subject Reference Materials: Photographs and magazine pictures of various still life, human, building, and landscape subjects. Try to select pictures that have middle to large size shapes.
Drawing Materials: One sheet (22 by 30-inches) of all cotton cold press watercolor paper or 18 x 24 inch cold press drawing paper, a 18 x 24 inch pad of rough newsprint, and a sketchbook. For charcoal: Soft vine charcoal, soft compressed charcoal; hard, medium and soft charcoal pencils, a kneaded eraser, a blending stump or tortillon, a chamois or soft cloth, and fixative spray. For pencil: A No. 2 school pencil, a water-soluble 6B sketching pencil and a 4B or 6B graphite stick (Try to get one that is rectangular on its end.), and a white eraser. Also bring a jack knife or utility knife and a No. 10 or 12 round synthetic watercolor brush.
Plywood Support Board: Measuring at least 24 by 18 inches.
Masking tape. A Wide-Mouth Water Container. Plastic table cloth. Paper towels. Protective Face Mask.

Class size is limited. A waiting list will be used. All students are required to fill out and sign this registration form. This is an adult class, with teens accepted with the instructor’s approval. Signing this registration releases Wes Hanson, Spokane Art Supply and associates of all responsibility for damages or harm incurred.
(The cut-off date to determine if this workshop will take place is Monday, January 3. After this date, if the workshop is going to take place, there will be no refunds for students unable to attend.)
